Reading Response

The name of the book I read earlier is called The Terror of the Pink Dodo Balloons. The book was written by Lawrence David. this book made me feel good because I really like the description the author used. I really liked the book, it was very enjoyable. The main character is a super hero so I have a connection to him. Sometimes I feel like I can be a hero when I am in baseball games or hockey games to win the game for my team. I think this is a just right book because the author uses such good writing that I could picture the setting in my mind.

Horace Splatty is the main character who is a super hero because of his sisters magic cupcakes that give him super powers to do many amazing things. Every year the town has a Celernip Prince Pageant and Horace is desperate to win the pageant because the winner got to pick a Celernip Princes and Horace loves a girl. He goes from wanting to win so bad that he forgets his friends to not caring about winning. Another character is Auggie. He is Horace's best friend. When the Pink Dodo balloons come and pop on his head and he becomes bald he thinks that it is all Horaces fault. Auggie and his brother Xax are the only ones that know that he is the Cupcaked Crusader(the super hero). After the balloon problem Auggie hates Horace.

The problem in this book is that Pink Dodo balloons that have the CupCaked Crusader come to the town after one school day. Auggie and Sara Willow get carried up on the balloon and the balloon pops and out comes a little butterfly hair clip and eats up all the hair on their heads. Auggie blames it on Horace but Horace keeps trying to tell Auggie that he had nothing to do with it. Later on even more balloons come and eat almost all of the towns people's hair off. Horace finds out that the once Kitty Hello has returned for her revenge on the people for saying that her hair cutting business was bad. Everyone thought she was away when she was disguising heself as Kitty's sister Bitty Hello. Horace stops Kitty and apologizes with Auggie and everyone has that's hair came of had to wear a wig until their hair was back.
If I could change anything in the book I think I would have all of the town be super-heroes.

Rading Response

I'am going to do a reading response on a book called The Summer of Riley by Eve Bunting. The book has a sad tail to it but I think it was relly good. I can connect the whole story with a book I have read that is a bout a boy who tries to save his dog from being exicuted. I think this is a just right book for me because I could picture the setting in my mind just by the authors discription.

There is one character that I can easily discrabe. His name is William, he is very kind and he is willing to save Riley troughout the whole story. Then theres Grace, she is sort of on both sides. She cares for the horse that was damaged by Riley and shemalso cares for Riley bercause she does not want him dead. William does not really cahnge but Grace changes. She goes from totaly being on the horses side to on both. I think she changes becaue of William's care for the dog.

The problem of the story is Riley gets lose from William and chases William's neighbor's horse. She gets really mad at William so she calls animal controll and wants them to kill Riley. If I could change anything in the book I would change Riley from a Golden Lab to a Chihuahua.

A Double Fudge Journal Response

The book I am going to do a journal response on is Double Fudge. The author of the book is Judy Blume one of my favorite authors. This book filled me with joy because of how the author describes the characters and the setting, but what mostly fills me with joy is just how she wrote the book. I have a connection to two of the main characters. I connect to Peter because he has to deal with the annoyance of his little brother Fudge who connects to my brother Blake. They are both so annoying but from time to time the are good to be around.

I think the character that changed the most is probably be Pete because he goes from hating Fudge because he was obsessed with money to not really hating him because it was something new Fudge has not ever known about. Peter changes when he notices that Fudge doesn't talk a lot about money any more.Fudge does not have a big change but he did go from not knowing about money to knowing a little bit about it. He changes by going to Washington,DC's money factory.

The problem in this story is that Fudge, and Peter meet there long lost Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. The youngest cousin in the Howies name is also Farley Drexel(That is Fudge's real name). They have to find a good name for Farley because Fudge does not like the idea of his cousin having his name. The name they come up with is Little Farley. The other problem is that Uncle Feathers(Fudge's bird) is not talking like he normally does. When he is let out of his cage by Little Farley he goes crazy and rams into a wall then all of a sudden he is talking again. The last problem is with Peter. The two daughters of the Howies are called the Natural Butties and they are annoying Peter and now they go to school with him they are in all his classes. They finally leave the school and Peter's life is better.
If I could change anything in the book I would make Peter's dog start talking so that the would have more problems. He would start talking because he learns from Uncle Feathers always talking.

I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!
